Portuguese guarantee 35,000 litres of milk to Food Bank in Tetra Pak initiative after 15% increase in food and beverage carton recycling
Tetra Pak, in partnership with the Portuguese Federation of Food Banks Against Hunger, launched a campaign to encourage the placement of food and beverage cartons in the yellow recycling bin during October 2022. The initiative resulted in the recycling of 702 tonnes of packaging – a 15% increase compared to October 2021.
This milestone comes after Tetra Pak’s campaign, in which for every 100 tonnes of milk, juice, cream, tomato and wine cartons recycled at the yellow recycling bin during October 2022, 5,000 litres of milk would be donated to the Portuguese Federation of Food Banks Against Hunger.
The initiative was part of the “Choose Nature. Choose Cardboard” campaign and aimed to sensitise the Portuguese to the importance of placing cardboard packaging for food and beverages in the yellow recycling bin and, consequently, increase recycling rates.
