Based in Madrid, PoolBack’s main activity is pallet pooling and pallet banking, with a granular network of warehouses across Europe.
About this acquisition, the CEO of Rotom Europe, Arjan Kuiper, comments that “we are now able to offer our customers in Europe the pooling of standard items such as EPAL pallets and H1 plastic pallets, where the Rotom company ‘2Return’ offers tailor-made pallet packaging recovery solutions. Both concepts are highly complementary and contribute to the circularity and reuse of cargo carriers such as pallets, metal containers, among others.”
Following the announcement of the completion of this deal, we spoke to Miguel Correia, managing director of Rotom in Portugal, who explains that “the group already had a service and pooling company, 2Return, in operation, and until now it was more focused on projects in central and northern Europe. Poolback allows us to strengthen our reverse logistics and pooling operations in southern Europe, namely in Portugal, Spain and France where we have several successful projects underway due to strong partnerships with various structures.
As for the possibilities that the acquisition of PoolBack opens up in terms of growth, Miguel Correia has no doubts that “Poolback’s services will allow us to offer our clients concrete alternatives for the sustainable return of packaging, with considerable savings over purchasing. I therefore consider it particularly important at a time of scarce resources to be able to strengthen the range of services to our end customers who are increasingly asking us for sustainable alternatives for packaging returns.”
