On 9 September, Rotom Portugal brought together its team and partners to celebrate its 15th anniversary in the Portuguese market at the World Of Wine in Vila Nova de Gaia. The event was also marked by the presence of Rotom Europe’s CEO, Arjan Kuiper, who travelled to Portugal to take part in the celebrations.
“Fifteen years ago, when we opened our branch and I challenged the Rotom Group to invest in Portugal, I knew that there was room in the market for a professional company in the pallets and logistics products sector,” recalls Miguel Correia, managing director
Miguel Correia notes that it has grown steadily in terms of turnover and has become a solid and financially sustainable company, having achieved its best result ever in 2022. “I was amazed when I visited them in 2008, in Belgium and Holland, by the tremendous operations they already had, and now we have similar investments and structures here, which I’m very proud of, because the Portuguese market was very backward in this area, many companies were a wasteland with a container and a forklift.” The managing director notes that “the evolution of the market and our share over the years has been remarkable. Since the opening of our warehouse in Maia six years ago and then our modern headquarters in Valado dos Frades in January 2019 with a total of 18,000 m2, we have witnessed significant growth in the market.”
Arjan Kuiper emphasised that “when we received Miguel’s proposal to expand, we were convinced that we would be able to sell our products in Portugal, and that our products and services were also used throughout Europe. It was a logical step for us, since we already had some activity in Spain, but the reason we moved into Portugal was to have Miguel as managing director.”
During his speech, the CEO of Rotom Europe presented Rotom Portugal with a statue of a tulip as a symbol that not only represents the company’s growth over the last 15 years, but also the Netherlands, where the parent company is based.
